Touch - A - Truck

The St. Joe PTO sponsored a Touch - A - Truck night on Friday. They had all kinds of vehicles there. The kids got to climb all over them. The police, firemen and EMTs let the kids flash the lights and sound the sirens and horns. It was loud and comical (and somewhat annoying). But the kids had a lot of fun, and that's what is important. I mean, how often do you get to climb around in those vehicles and flip switches?

Now is Rylin's turn.

**From my past** My dad was on the Fire Department as well as the Sheriff's Department when I was growing up (and is still involved). In those days "The City" used to sound the fire whistle announcing there was a fire. At that time all the "Volunteer Fireman" would hop in their personal vehicle and race to the scene. If my brother and I made it to my dad's truck fast enough we could go along. And it was REALLY GREAT when we got to actually ride in a fire truck on the way to a real fire! The lights, the sirens, and the race was very exciting! We have witnessed a lot of tragedy. Houses, stores, cars, barns, etc. Even though the fires were extremely amazing - what sticks out in my mind the most is playing at the firehouse. Those men would let us do anything. We would wear their boots and helmets around, play on the trucks, slide down the pole, ring the bell (inside the firehouse), play basketball, drink pop and we would ALWAYS steal the sugar cubes! The box of sugar cubes sat on a card table along with the always brewing pot of coffee which sat downstairs next to the bottom of the pole. Great memories. **Okay ... back to the post!**

THE SPRAYER!

This was Rylin's absolute highlight. He LOVED climbing around on this. He couldn't stay off of it. He usually gets excited when he sees one in a field or driving down the road. So I think he really enjoyed being able to check it out. He even fit inside one of the wheels.

Kamdyn had a good time, too. He really liked it when Grandma helped him stand and jump on the wheel of the bulldozer.
