Last night was the 2011 Walk for Lupus Now Awards Party. As you might recall, my cousin Beverly (Kocher) Knaup has Lupus. We held LOTS of fundraisers last summer/fall to raise money for Team Knaup. If you don't recall or would like to read it again ... You can read her story here.
Bev received an extremely warm welcome when she got there and really enjoyed herself. Please visit her blog to read about her WONDERFUL EVENING!
She is such an amazing woman. She has experienced so much in her life thus far and has conquered and succeeded in many things most people can only dream of. Like serving as a 1st Lt in the USAF as a Flight Test Engineer and having the privilege of flying in the back seat of F-16s and T-38s. Becoming a mother. Becoming a wonderful quilter. Going sky diving. Going against the odds of Lupus and doing things "they" say can't be done. She has experienced the good, the bad, and unfortunately ... the ugly. I am so proud of her and can't wait to see what BIG things she has in her future.
As Bev says ... "I may have Lupus, but Lupus DOES NOT have me!"
Special THANK YOU to all of you who participated, donated, prayed, posted, emailed, donated again, re-posted, and encouraged us along the way, we earned 2nd place out of all the Los Angeles teams!
Above all I would like to thank the Good Lord above for giving Bev the strength, the courage, the knowledge and the insight to help her fight this battle. And thank you, Lord, for putting Brian and Emma right where they need to be ... in Bev's arms.

Our final total was
$23,320
Can you believe it?
Go to her blog (RIGHT NOW) to see more details.
Her post gives me goosebumps, tears, and hope.
Hope that one day ... there WILL be a cure.

Lori, we wouldn't have raised that much money if it wasn't for you and your creativity and leadership. You were an essential part to the success of this team and I'm so so so grateful for everything you did and continue to do to help me and encourage me on this journey.
All my love,
Bev
