Most of the time when there is a weather warning it turns out to be nothing. Well not this time. "They" predicted and "they" were right. Tuesday the rain came ... and it froze ... and it's very frustrating! Our power started to flicker around 3:30pm on Tuesday. At 4:45pm it went off. And it's STILL off. Booooooooo!
For us-no electric means no water. I had filled up several jugs and bottles to help us flush toilets and use for cooking. And Lee bought about 8 gallons. Gas stove could still be used to cook on. Wood stove would heat the kitchen. But ... nothing satisfied the dear children.
We lasted until around 2pm on Wednesday. The kids and I packed up and went to Grandma's. And we're still here. We're plenty comfortable, but there's no place like home. I am rather enjoying the carpeted floors though!
We borrowed a generator from a friend and Lee got it all hooked up. So the freezers are hooked up, the frige and the blower on the wood stove. Lee has been coming out to mom's for supper then sleeping at our house. Darcy and Loco are probably going stir crazy being locked up in the kitchen! Oh, and the fish ... you can probably quess how well they're doing. lol It's been a while since they've had any oxygen pumped to 'em!
So via the radio station today there are still approximately 4000 without power and it could be 2 to 4 days until we get power. AND .... the weather report is that we'll be getting more snow on Saturday and freezing rain on Sunday. Mother Nature .... PLEASE GIVE US A BREAK!
